The National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) offers an excellent manual for LGBT Elders. This manual is written for LGBT people, and will also be useful for the people who care for or assist you. LGBT elders are often invisible within America’s fast-growing aging population. There are an estimated 3.5 to 4 million LGBT persons age 65 and older in the U.S. But as LGBT people age, you may confront institutions and public policies that do not recognize your needs or acknowledge your families, or that discriminate against you based on your sexual orientation or gender identity or expression.
